Last Friday, May 22nd was Ride Your Bike to Work day at Mahaska’s Oskaloosa location! Bike to Work Days began in the 1950s as a health initiative created by the League of American Bicyclists as a part of National Bike Month. The movement encourages people to try bicycle commuting as a healthy and safe alternative to driving. Bike to Work Days are held across the nation with a diverse range of regional and community events supporting the initiative.
Mahaska had three employees participate in this year’s event: John Edwards, Michael Courtney, and Andy Davis. To encourage and support their efforts, Mahaska donated fun prizes for participants. Michael (in yellow), part of Mahaska’s load crew, won a Mountain Dew fishing bucket and a gift card. John, a Mahaska Vending Technician, received a gift card and a cool Pepsi Sling bag. Thanks to all who participated in this great Mahaska event. We look forward to Bike to Work Day next year!
