Dustin Schomaker, the Coffee Service Technician and Sales Representative at Mahaska, is an extremely well rounded individual. Although his time at Mahaska has been a little over a year, he has proven himself to his supervisor and team. Dustin is extremely strong in his faith but also has a little known “punk” side. To find out more about Dustin read below!
What is a typical day at Mahaska look like for you?
There isn’t much typical about a day at Mahaska, besides clocking in and clocking out. I might be working as a sales rep outside of the plant, or inside making calls and chasing leads. Some days it’s both!
Favorite beverage that Mahaska distributes?
TYR and Muscle Milk (Chocolate).
Favorite snack that Mahaska distributes?
Beef Jerky.
What do you do outside of Mahaska for fun?
Sing, play guitar, attend Mass, read, snowboard (it’s been too long), fish, hunt, golf, fellowship, and watch the Huskers play football.
What’s something no one would guess about you?
I used to be in a heavy-metal band.
How would you think your friends describe you in one sentence?
I would’ve thought they would describe me as a “punk” with a lot to learn. But, I didn’t want to assume, so I asked a few and here is what they said:
“Dusty’s a very contentious and a fast learner.” (My Supervisor)
“A good listener and leader. Attentive, thoughtful, calm, eccentric, fashionable, mysterious, focused in executing, and confident in speaking.”
“A person who continually works to love and serve the Lord. Caring, peaceful and hardworking, vibrant, friendly, trustworthy. Enjoys the new experiences that happen from day to day. An amazing man who is humble, loves God and tries to follow his will. Up-beat, fun loving, who sings from his soul. Deeply cares for others, loyal, reliable, big-hearted, joyful, and friendly. A man made after the heart of God.”
Needless to say, I have very generous and loving friends!
What are you most passionate about?
My Christian Faith
Are you involved in the local community? If so, how?
Yes, I sing in the church and volunteer at certain events. (Youth ministry etc..)
What have you seen Mahaska do that benefits the local community?
I’ve seen them donate coolers and other items when a tragic tornado struck one of the neighboring communities.
How would you describe “Midwest Values?”
Loving God with all your heart, mind, body, soul, and strength. Loving your neighbor as yourself.
